Seda 500 Glacier from Covington is a 100% Creamy White, raw silk textured drapery fabric. Seda is the Spanish word for silk and this is actually a type of Matka silk which is an Indian term used for rough or raw silk fabric made from very thick yarns spun out of the pierced cocoon. The yarns are obtained from the short ends of silk from the Mulberry silkworms and then are spun by hand. Since Matka silk is a raw type of silk, the yarns are quite uneven and the fabric has a course, yet smooth texture with a gorgeous sheen. The beauty of this fabric derives from all of its imperfections from nature. Due to the inherent characteristics which is the charm of the fabric, Seda has color variations and shading effects. Seda is only suggested for drapery use. This is a silk to be understood and appreciated of nature at its finest.
